Calibration of Three Phase Energy Meter

Calibrating a three-phase energy meter means comparing its energy registration against a reference meter under controlled load conditions, and recording the error at each test point. The reference used for this work in the manufacturer's range is a handheld three phase standard reference meter such as the GF312D, or a three phase calibrator such as the GF312D1, which also measures CT ratio and phase error.

A useful test plan covers the wiring mode first: 1P2W, 1P3W, 3P3W or 3P4W, matching the meter installation. Then choose load points that cover the meter's working range, including low current where starting and creep behaviour matter, and check power factor and phase angle at each point. Harmonic content matters where the load is not sinusoidal; the reference meter's harmonic range should cover the harmonics present on site.

Record for every test point the reference reading, the meter reading, the calculated error, the load current and voltage, the power factor, and the temperature if the test standard requires it. A record that only says pass or fail cannot be checked later. If a test point fails, repeat it before concluding that the meter is faulty: check the wiring, the CT ratio setting, and the optical sampler alignment first, because all three are common causes of a false failure.

Before ordering test equipment for this work, confirm the meter types to be tested, the accuracy class required, whether clamp-on measurement is needed for meters that stay in service, and the delivery terms. Ask for the current datasheet to be confirmed in writing before ordering.

What to confirm before ordering

Before payment, confirm the model, the specification from the current datasheet, the quantity, the price, the lead time, and the delivery terms, in writing. Ask in your inquiry to confirm the payment terms, the trade terms, and the reply time you should expect, rather than assuming any of them. No price, minimum order or lead time figure is stated on this site.

Send an inquiry: include the model, the test or measurement requirement, and the quantity you need. Before payment, confirm the model, the specification from the current datasheet, the quantity, and the delivery terms.
